Schock 34 Performance Cruiser Description:Yet Another Way to Describe Natu
The Schock 34PC is a great sailboat. Designed by Nelson/Marek
she has a deeper hull than the Schock 35 with more freeboard and interior space. She has a fine entry forward with a flat bottom aft of the keel for excellent downwind performance. With her deep keel she sails within 28 degrees of weather with a perfectly balanced helm.
"Natu" is a beautiful performance cruiser with excellent speed capabilities and exceptional handling characteristics. The deck layout is very efficient with wide side decks, and a roomy cockpit with large new blue dodger providing great protection. A stainless steel radar arch is mounted over the transom. A spare propane tank, a Magma kettle propane barbeque, and an outboard motor/Life Sling hoist are attached to the arch which can also serve as a bicycle rack for two. The transom has a fold-out walk-through with built-in boarding steps and swim ladder. An outdoor shower is installed in the cockpit.
There are eight opening ports, and two deck hatches one in the salon and one in the forward berth. Below decks she is super comfortable, with bright high standing room interior, varnished teak trim and teak and holly sole. Forward, there is a large private double Vee berth with hull side shelves, drawers, and under berth storage. The enclosed head with shower and sink is just aft and to port, and a hanging locker to starboard. Going aft is the spacious salon with a lounge and dinette to port, the table custom designed on two hydraulic supports to serve as a massage table which also folds out to a double wide teak surface seating 6-8 all around. A settee is to starboard with a bulkhead mounted Faball diesel heater providing cheery warmth. Its removable diesel tank is stored on the upper shelf of the hanging locker just forward of the bulkhead. Hull side shelves with sliding doors and lockers under both settees provide for a lot of storage.
A huge U-shaped galley is just aft of the settee. The galley has a double stainless sink, two burner propane stove with oven, two built-in ice boxes with pump outs, pressure hot and cold water with a Wolters on demand propane heater (available but not presently installed). Hull side shelf, pull out bin, five drawers and under sink cabinet provide storage.
Aft and beneath the cockpit is a large athwart ships private double stateroom entered through the port side nav station opposite the galley. AM/FM cassette stereo with cabin and cockpit speakers, an Icom M55 VHF radiotelephone, West Marine Loran C, Quad-Cycle charger/regulator and amp hour meter, and Trace inverter are mounted in the nav station. The radar screen is just outside the nav station where it can be seen from the cockpit.
The rigging consists of a Kenyon keel stepped painted aluminum spar with double spreaders, Staystream 2 roller furling,150% genoa with a u.v. cover, a fully-battened mainsail with two reefs, a working jib and a triradial cruising spinnaker made by Rush Sails. A whisker pole and track are mounted on the mast. The steering is pedestal with a 44' stainless wheel and a teak cockpit table. There are four Lewmar self-tailing winches and a 12:1 boom vang. Ground tackle includes a 22 lb. stern mounted Bruce anchor with chain and 200' line plus a spare stanchion mounted Danforth and rode.
The auxiliary is a 27 hp. fresh water cooled Yanmar 3GM30F diesel with a Silver Bullet high amp alternator regulator, and has approximately 600 total hours. She is also equipped with two banks of two 12V batteries and an engine starting battery, A Trace inverter with five 110 V outlets and shore power with cords and adaptors.
The steering pedestal has a Signet Marine Smartpak SL80 Depth Sounder/Knot Meter/Anemometer, and a binnacle compass.
